Michael Miasek
Chamber President

  Michael J. Miasek has been elected to the position of the President of the Polish-Canadian Chamber of Commerce at its June 2005 Annual General Meeting. Michael is a Canadian-educated lawyer and a business person.
   He is currently an in-house counsel at VAC AERO International Inc., a privately-owned aerospace company, based in Oakville. He runs two VAC AERO subsidiaries in Poland, an aerospace special process service facility located within the Pratt & Whitney Kalisz complex (Wielkopolska Voivodship), and a vacuum/atmospheric furnace manufacturing production facility located in Swiebodzin (Lubuskie Voivodship). Michael also heads a Warsaw-based consulting company, Vertis Sp. z o.o., specializing in the areas of business and foreign investment.
  Prior to joining VAC AERO, Michael spent several years at a corporate/commercial department at Baker & McKenzie Toronto. His other positions included a Vice-President for a Toronto-based financial institution and a senior consultant at the City of Toronto Corporate Department.
  In his volunteer capacity, Michael has been involved with several Canadian-based human rights and community-based organizations, including Amnesty International, Polish-Canadian Congress, and 1313 Parkdale Cultural Centre.



Bernhard L. Otterstein
Chamber Vice-President

    Bernhard Otterstein was born and educated in Vancouver, Canada, where he graduated with honours from the University of British Columbia. Over the past 20 years he has worked for numerous corporate, governmental and institutional clients in North America and Europe in the areas of economic analysis, new market development, international marketing, cross-cultural communications and - more recently - project finance and investment planning.
    Mr. Otterstein is currently engaged in the financing, development and management of international business ventures in biotechnology (genetic testing, stem cell cryoconservation and scientific research), alternative energy, infrastructure and agricultural production. Since 2004 he has held the position of Vice-President of the Polish Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
   Mr. Otterstein has also worked as a television and music producer, and has hosted a weekly television programme boardcast around the world. He speaks fluent English, German, and Polish.
 


Paul Fogo
Chamber Secretary 

  Paul Fogo is an attorney with Miller Canfield Paddock & Stone, a US-Canadian law firm with three offices in Poland. Mr. Fogo is married and he and his wife, Elizabeth, have one child, Matthew. Paul has lived in Poland for 5 years. Paul focuses his practice on advising both foreign and local investors on EU law, share purchase agreements, technology licensing agreements, real estate acquisition and development. Paul also serves as the legal columnist for the Warsaw Business Journal, Poland’s leading weekly English language newspaper.
   Paul received his law degree from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC in 1998. While finishing his law degree, he studied Polish commercial law at Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Prior to entering law school Paul worked for ten years as a real estate agent. 
 

 Tomasz Dalach
Chamber Treasurer

Tomasz Dalach has over 15 years experience in strategic and operations management and in shaping organizational cultures.  He graduated from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology of the Warsaw University of Technology and from School of Management at Warsaw University and College of Business at the University of Illinois, where he received an MBA with honors.  He has also completed a course for investment advisors and security analysts and a course for candidates for supervisory boards.  Tomasz acts as the Partner at OCEAN Capital Management (www.oceancapital.pl) and is a member of the supervisory board of Digital Avenue S.A. listed on the NewConnect Market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.  He is also co-founder and head of the management board of the Warsaw-Illinois Executive MBA Alumni Association "Nowy Świat".   Tomasz is married and has two sons.  He plays tennis, enjoys skiing and scuba diving and traveling with family and friends.

Izabela Niewirowska

Member of the Board

  Izabela Niewirowska, with more than 10 years of experience working for an international consulting corporation in the field of human resources management - currently fulfils the position of Human Resources Director for CGI Poland, the Canadian world wide independent company specializing in information technology and business consulting. Mrs. Niewirowska serves as the responsible manager of all HR related issues and advises management on legal and CGI internal procedures and policies for the successful execution of personnel issues for CGI's Polish operations in Warsaw and Krakow. Mrs. Niewirowska also acts as Employee Relations Manager for the CGI members working throughout Central and Western Europe.
Izabela graduated with honors as Master of Science in the Warsaw University of Social Psychology. During her studies she got strong professional and educational background in a wide range of human resources management areas including communications, social psychology, group behavior, and stress management in world wide organizations. Prior to working with CGI, she worked for a leading recruiting agency and a company specialized in the field of professional electronic equipment, TV stations, recording studios, and theatres.
Born and living in Warsaw with her husband Dariusz and their three children Weronika, Mikolaj and Nela.



Marek Barlowski
Member of the Board


One of founder members of Polish Canadian Chamber of Commerce.  Mr. Marek R. Barlowski come to business from sports. Being an international coach he has worked with Olympic and World Cup level Canadian and Egyptian swimmers. Since 1991 involved in business. President and founder of Medica 91 sp.j. (www.medica91.com), a company that imports and exports medical equipment and spa related products (cryogenic chambers). Marek R. Barlowski has introduced to Poland such companies as Welch Allyn Inc. (USA), Seca GmbH (Gemany), Hadeco Inc. (Japan), Spengler (France) and others. He has also helped Polish companies to export their products abroad.
    Marek R. Barlowski has graduated from AWF Krakow University with Master's Degree in Science. In 1999 he has completed a postgraduate program in business management at The Nottingham Trent University, UK.
