Michael Miasek
Chamber President

  Michael J. Miasek has been elected to the position of the President of the Polish-Canadian Chamber of Commerce at its June 2005 Annual General Meeting. Michael is a Canadian-educated lawyer and a business person.
   He is currently an in-house counsel at VAC AERO International Inc., a privately-owned aerospace company, based in Oakville. He runs two VAC AERO subsidiaries in Poland, an aerospace special process service facility located within the Pratt & Whitney Kalisz complex (Wielkopolska Voivodship), and a vacuum/atmospheric furnace manufacturing production facility located in Swiebodzin (Lubuskie Voivodship). Michael also heads a Warsaw-based consulting company, Vertis Sp. z o.o., specializing in the areas of business and foreign investment.
  Prior to joining VAC AERO, Michael spent several years at a corporate/commercial department at Baker & McKenzie Toronto. His other positions included a Vice-President for a Toronto-based financial institution and a senior consultant at the City of Toronto Corporate Department.
  In his volunteer capacity, Michael has been involved with several Canadian-based human rights and community-based organizations, including Amnesty International, Polish-Canadian Congress, and 1313 Parkdale Cultural Centre.



Bernhard L. Otterstein
Chamber Vice-President

    Bernhard Otterstein was born and educated in Vancouver, Canada, where he graduated with honours from the University of British Columbia. Over the past 20 years he has worked for numerous corporate, governmental and institutional clients in North America and Europe in the areas of economic analysis, new market development, international marketing, cross-cultural communications and - more recently - project finance and investment planning.
    Mr. Otterstein is currently engaged in the financing, development and management of international business ventures in biotechnology (genetic testing, stem cell cryoconservation and scientific research), alternative energy, infrastructure and agricultural production. Since 2004 he has held the position of Vice-President of the Polish Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
   Mr. Otterstein has also worked as a television and music producer, and has hosted a weekly television programme boardcast around the world. He speaks fluent English, German, and Polish.
 


Paul Fogo
Chamber Secretary 

  Paul Fogo is an attorney with Miller Canfield Paddock & Stone, a US-Canadian law firm with three offices in Poland. Mr. Fogo is married and he and his wife, Elizabeth, have one child, Matthew. Paul has lived in Poland for 5 years. Paul focuses his practice on advising both foreign and local investors on EU law, share purchase agreements, technology licensing agreements, real estate acquisition and development. Paul also serves as the legal columnist for the Warsaw Business Journal, Poland’s leading weekly English language newspaper.
   Paul received his law degree from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC in 1998. While finishing his law degree, he studied Polish commercial law at Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Prior to entering law school Paul worked for ten years as a real estate agent.
